Long distance Grandparenting or Voice over Information Technology
One of the neat things about being a grandparent is that you have the luxury of teaching your grandkids things you wanted to teach your own children. Technology makes it easy to access our grandchildren that reside in other states. The mere fact that you are able to log onto the internet and read this blog means says we’ve got what it takes. Let’s face it, more than ever we need to convey as sense of family and everyone has a need to belong. Enough with the soapbox, here are just a couple of suggestions to get started with your own Voice over Information Technology (VoIT) project.
Digital Recorder
Digital recorders have more uses than conducting freelance interviews! How about using a buying a digital recorder for mommy and daddy to record their own personal message to their infant or toddler. The alphabet song being sung by mommy as they drift off to sleep is a comforting sound for baby and a stress reliever for mommy and daddy too! Not to mention, the head start it will give your grandchild in the world of academia!
Tape Cassette
Well, if you’re laughing because the tape cassette is as old as a reel-to-reel…it is but, guess what, some of us still have one! (I have all of my old technology) So, dust it off and start taping a sweet lullaby sung by grammy and papa! Just make sure that you make the $20 investment to buy one for the gkid!
